H1N1 related death reported in Femont County Nebraska City News Press

Sidney, Iowa -

Fremont County has capable its first H1N1 related death. The Iowa Department of Public Health released a statement that the adult had risk factors that increased the imperil of complications from the virus, however is not releasing the name or age of the person.

In addition to the death in Fremont County, additional latest deaths associated with the H1N1 virus were reported in Polk and Union counties, Iowa. Both individuals also had hazard factors that increased the chance of complications from the virus.

To date, Iowa has reported 30 confirmed H1N1 deaths and barely 700 H1N1 related hospitalizations.

Fremont County continues to hold weekly free immunization clinics for the H1N1 vaccine. At the last clinic 95 people were vaccinated. The next clinic will be Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Southwest Iowa Retreat Health in Sidney.

The clinic is open to pregnant women, people who live with or provide protect for infants under 6 months of age, healthy people
