CHARLEY Boorman has stepped out of the shadows of high-minded friend and Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor, to become a motoring icon of film-star proportions.

On his in circulation tour of Australia to launch his new By Any Means book and DVD he has been mobbed by fans; male and female, inexperienced and old, motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists.

His hectic week-long launch tour brought him to Brisbane this week where he took a journey on the region's famed Mt Glorious Rd before heading to Sydney for an appearance at the motorcycle expo this weekend.

Boorman has acted in many of his notable father John's movies and met McGregor on the set of one. Their shared interest in motorcycles turned into the around-the-world Long Way About book, DVD and TV series.

He followed up with Race to Dakar in which he competed in the gruelling desert rally, then did Extended Way Down from Scotland to South Africa with McGregor. After that, he started his By Any Means series using any means of thrill he could find from his favourite old Land Rovers to elephants, tuk-tuks, canoes and a jet ski.

who wears an icon motorcycle helmet? what do you think about it?

how does it have a? does it have a lot of wind noise?, what information / opinions can you tell me about it

I have 4 helmets. One of which, is an Icon Association.

It is in the middle of the pack as far as weight. It is slightly heavier than my Arai RX-7 Corsair. The ventilation on the top feels a mini cheesy. It makes more wind noise than I would like, but less than my HJC. The breath defelecter that is built in does not absolutely help stop the shield from fogging. It is more difficult to slide glasses on (padding is damned tight in the temple area) than my other helmets. I don't know if the shield is on too tight, but the opening and closing identity theory is very harsh. It takes more force than I am used to, when opening or closing the shield. Abruptly clicks into each stand.

Pros - the shell seems to be holding up very well. The padding/liner has held up and appears to be wearing well.

This may be my last Icon helmet. It was a lot cheaper than my Arai, but I like my Arai so much, I on occasions wear the Icon any more.
