CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Dec. 2 6:39 p.m. Discontinuity/Enter Residential-Occupied in North Division: The victims reported that three black male suspects, one drab complexion, short wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, one with medium complexion and a white hooded sweatshirt dark description on third suspect broke into their home at 33400 Lochway Lane and robbed them at gunpoint. The suspects fled the background in a beige or white Pontiac Grand Prix.
Dec. 2 7:15 p.m. Armed Robbery from Business in North Margin: The Auto Zone at 66300 Statesville Avenue was the target for an attempted robbery by a black masculine in all black clothing and a mask. The suspect was armed with a handgun but nothing was taken from the store. The suspect fled on foot.
Dec. 2 7:53 p.m. Armed Hijacking from Business in Freedom Division: The Spring Hill Motel at 3000 Scott Futrell Way was robbed at gunpoint by a unsullied male who was wearing a Discount Tire gray jacket. The suspect fled on foot. No injuries.

The Noh mask in the presentation representsHannya, a female demon. The designs of Noh maskswere established hundreds of years ago, and newmasks are copies. The oldest master masks are con-sidered national treasures in Japan. With roots inShinto dances and Buddhist traditions the Noh the-ater is purely Japanese and has enjoyed continuous per-formances since the 1300s CE. Only males are al-lowed to perform, and can begin training as youngas six or seven years of age. Callow performers oftenstart with masks less frightening and intense thanthose worn by adults. In summing-up to masks, the per-formers usually wear lavish robes and wigs that ob-scure much of their bodies.The plays are wholly long and the action moves ata very slow pace, with very little talk or movement;the creation required to bring life to the wooden masksand create believable emotions is very uphill forthe actors. The stories in the Noh theater are seriousand sad. Most of the characters in Noh plays aregods, callous warriors, ghosts, and demons.
For many thousands of years, people have been mak-ing masks for rituals, production, and protection.Though these masks represent many different reli-gious and cultural beliefs, styles, and sizes, there aresimilarities in their functions. The Masks: Let’s FaceIt holdall contains eight masks, created at differenttimes by cultures from around the world. The Art ToGo presentation examines these objects in terms oftheir eccentric purpose and the meanings they heldfor the cultures that created them. During this pre-sentation, students will learn how the masks weremade, but more importantly, why they were made.Students will also review how our society usesmasks today and how, if at all, these uses resemblethose of the suitcase masks.
