what's the difference between a youth football helmet and an adult football helmet?
i was looking on a sporting goods website and the measure measurements for the youth helmet are no different than the measurements for the adult helmet. so if my head can fit into the same size youth helmet as it can an adult, then what's the difference between the two?
Youth helmets are made with ABS persuadable and often come standard with a lighter plastic or hollow steel face mask. They are NOT designed for players older than 14. Often they have a unconventional padding system that is appropriate for PoP Warner football, but definately not for High School or Senior ball.
Full-grown helmets are made with Polycarbonate and come with either Solid Steel face masks or even with Titanium expression masks. THey are considerably heavier and often have better air management systems for fitting the helmet.
The Revolution helmet and the New Coup d' Speed helmet have even been proven to reduce the risk of concussion.
