As the days grow shorter and the nights get longer, it's a permissible time to take a closer look at the lighting in your home. With today's selection, the possibilities are endless.

Michael's Lamp Rat on in Lathrup Village features a wide variety of antique, vintage and new light fixtures, shades and finials. "An set off lamp can create a great atmosphere, especially now when it gets dark so early it's gloomy," says David Findlay, degradation president. Even task lighting can be decorative with a black marble and brass piano desk lamp.

The stationing of lighting has few limits as well. Findlay says people are placing lamps in kitchens, bathrooms, dressing rooms and more. "A unique sconce can be used as a nightlight in a hallway," he says.

Many people bring in lamps they've had for years that no longer jacket their needs. Michael's can completely change the look by replicating a vintage painted finish. "People often say they like the bod but not the finish," Findlay says. "We can make aluminum look like brass or bronze like they did during the Eximious Depression." Fixtures that have been painted can be stripped back down to their original finish.
